Rules of this site

1. General terms and conditions
   1. “Art-critique” section of Hiero.ru site is meant for publication of photographs, paintings, drawings and computer art that can be sufficiently well presented on a computer screen; and for the unobstructed exchange of opinions about the displayed work and the art-related issues by the site users.
   2. The site users can
      • submit their work for discussion provided it meets the basic requirements (see below),
      • change any parameters of their works (title, description, etc.),
      • withdraw their artwork from the site.
   3. To register, new users must receive an invitation code from one of the existing users of the site. To create a code existing users can use the following url: http://hiero.ru/invite; the conditions are described at the same url.
2. Technical requirements to the submitted artwork
   1. Submitted artwork has to be in either JPEG or unanimated GIF format. File size must not exceed 200 Kb.
   2. One artwork can be submitted in 36 hours.
   3. “Refresh” and “Big copy” options are meant for refreshing and presenting variants of the same artwork. It is not allowed to change one artwork for another. If such substitution occurs, the artwork will be deleted from the site by moderators. It is also recommended that if a new, significantly altered variant of the same work needs to be published, it is submitted as a new work.
3. Authorship and copyright
   1. A user can either submit work that was executed by themselves or others' work if the author explicitly agreed to such publication; if such permission was indeed obtained, it must be stated in the submitter's comments.
   2. If artwork shows a recognizable human model, the model must have no objections against such publication.
   3. Artwork is accepted from individuals or groups of co-authors but not from organisations or agents (apart from case specified in 3a), even if the organisation or agent hold the copyright.
   4. It is forbidden to submit one individual's work using more than one account. Multiple accounts belonging to the same author will be disabled and all artworks submitted will be deleted from the site.
   5. Plagiarism is forbidden. Accounts of plgiarists will be blocked and all the submitted work deleted from the site by the moderators.
   6. Submission of derivatives of others' work (drawing based on somebody else's photograph, vector tracing, building a collage around somebody else's work, etc) is allowed only if a permission is obtained from the author of the original, which must be explicitely stated in the comments. If no such statement was made, derivative work will be deleted after warning from the moderators; repeated submission of derivative work will be treated as plagiarism.
4. Requirements to the content
   1. It is forbidden to submit work that will be interpreted as demeaning by the veiwers, works with explicit sexual or/and graphicly violent content, and works and/or comments that purport to convert the viewers to a specific political or social current. It is forbidden to submit work and/or comments that might provoke inter-national, inter-racial or interreligious tension and that advocate racial, sexual, or other types of discrimination. It is also not allowed to submit work of advertising nature, ie works that purport to make the viewer to use specific goods and/or services. All work of the abovementioned description will be deleted by the moderators without warning.
   2. It is not recommended to submit the work of low artistic value or work that is of interest only to the author and his friend and relations. Works with low artistic value (as deemed by the moderators) will be deleted from the site.
5. Discussion of submited artworks
   1. Users of the site are free to express their opinion about any work that is submitted to the “art-critique” section of the site.
   2. It is expected of the users to discuss the works in constructive and mutually respectful manner. It is not allowed to use profanity and language that will be demening for the author and the model(s). See also 4a
   3. It is now allowed to advertise goods, resources, services or events that have no connection with the site mission and/or the discussion of the specific artwork.
   4. It is strongly recommened not to use the discussion board under each work to pass personal messages that are of no interest to other viewers and best conveyed via the site's pager utility.
   5. Hiero.ru is a multi-lingual site, but the prevailing language is currently Russian. Wherever possible Russian language should be used; intentional use of jargons, slangs and pidgin language is not recommended.
6. Moderation strategy
   1. Site administration reserves the right to delete the artworks that do not correspond to the requirements described above.
   2. Site administration reserves the right to delete or edit the comments that do not meet the requirements to the comments described above.
   3. Site administration reserves the right to restrict or close access to the site to those users who malitiously and/or repeatedly break the site's rules and who commit other actions that are considered undesireable by the administration.
7. Legal disclaimer
   1. Hiero.ru site is meant for publication of the submitted work. Site and its administration do not claim any rights to the work published on it apart from the right to give the necessary space for publication and the discussion. All matters related to use/purchase/copyright/re-publication of artwork or the content of the work should be discussed with the authors and/or their agents.
   2. As the internet is an open medium, site administration can not be held responsible for the possible unappropriate use of work by the visitors of the site. Authors must be aware that such use is possible.
   3. Site administration reserves the right to use any of the submitted work for advertising of the site.
   4. Site administration is not to be held responsible for the content of the artwork submitted to the site and for the contents of the comments left by the viewers.
